It is a privately run nonprofit. It provides after school enrichment
programs from the end of the school day at 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. every
day of the school year. The curriculum is based on an interdisciplinary approach, and the annual school-wide goal is incorporated into learning experiences. Academic, enrichment, and recreation activities led by trained staff with support from volunteer tutors.
What are school hours?
K-5 School starts at Mandarin Academy at 9:00am, and dismissal is at 3:00pm. After School Program is from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Please do not drop off children before 9:00am; there is no supervision. Mandarin Academy takes attendance seriously–students need to be at school, on time, in order to learn.
Is Mandarin Academy an immersion or bilingual school?
Yes. We believe that being bilingual is one of our biggest gifts we can give to our children. China will be one of the dominant economic powers of this century and our group of parents founded Mandarin Academy because we wanted our children to understand Mandarin as well as English.
How diverse is the student population
of Mandarin Academy?
We are a very diverse school that truly reflects the diversity of the
city. Our diversity extends beyond ethnic identification. We extend our welcome to all who desire a strong educational program.
